Let's make our community a better place!
To create a pipeline of African American talent that will strengthen the African American community through indigenous leadership.
To provide culturally sensitive training and support to African American high school students through conferences, institutes, and mentoring to strengthen the quality of life in the African American community.
One of the greatest challenges facing the African American community is gentrification. The idea of gentrification carries considerable social baggage. Rightly understand gentrification is a positive force for urban renewal. Responsible opposed to forced gentrification provides long-term infrastructure and sustainability that deteriorating communities desperately need. The Indige Leaders program prepares African American high school students to be conduits of responsible gentrification that transform their community. Youth who participate will gain a greater sense of self and develop their talents to enhance the quality of life in the African American community. Through four, six month institutes youth are exposed to culturally sensitive workshops, presenters, projects and events. The Indige Leaders experience inspires and give participants the necessary skills to lead organic community development.
